Guidance
Some residents may have poor interpersonal skills and or boundaries, which could lead to unfortunate neighbor interactions. Recovery residences should proactively provide guidance to residents around greeting and interacting with neighbors and concerned parties. At a minimum, interactions should be polite. Some recovery residences do outreach into the neighborhood and residents do service work in the neighborhood (e.e. shoveling snow, mowing lawns or helping pick up trash).
Evaluation
Do resident and staff orientations include how to greet and interact with neighbors and/or concerned parties?
Evidence
Evidence that this rule is upheld should be documented in the resident packet and leader manual.
