Job descriptions include staff responsibilities, eligibility, and knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) needed to deliver services. Ideally, eligibility to deliver services includes lived experience recovering from substance use disorders and the ability to reflect recovery principles.

Guidance

Not every recovery residence role requires someone to have lived experience recovering from substance use issues. Persons without lived experience can easily serve in administrative or professional roles. By enlarge, direct recovery support and resident leadership positions do require lived experience as a qualification. Regardless, staff and leadership must be able to reflect recovery principles.

Evaluation

  • Does the recovery residence have job descriptions that include:

    • Role responsibilities, eligibility, and knowledge, skills and abilities:

      • Ideally, lived experience recovering from substance use disorders

      • The ability to reflect recovery principles
