Rule

Policies and procedures that require the responsible person(s) to respond to neighbor’s concerns

Levels

I

II

III

IV

This rule applies to all levels.

Guidance

Regardless of whether the neighbor’s concerns are driven by unfounded fears or residents’ inconsiderate behavior, the responsible person should respond. In the spirit of being a good neighbor, an agreeable solution to the concern can often be reached. Even when it is not, it is important the neighbor feels heard and they know who to contact in the future.

Not in my backyard (NIMBY) activity should be shared with the affiliate, so they can track it and help link the provider to resources.

Evaluation

Are there policies and procedures that require the responsible person(s) to respond to neighbor’s concerns?

Evidence

Evidence that this rule is upheld should be documented in the leader manual.
