1.C.8. Resident involvement

NARR Standard 3.0: 1.C.8. Promote resident involvement in a developmental approach to recovery

This standard addresses protocols for developing recovery capital. To what extent do staff and residents participate in and support the community approach to recovery? What customs are in place to lift resident voice to maintain the health and safety of the community? Reflecting the concepts in social model recovery (staff role; recovery orientation) and recovery capital, examining the staff and resident role in promoting community life is critical for recovery residences. — NARR Standard 3.0 Compendium

The standard is upheld by the following rules:

  • 1.C.8.a.  Peer support interactions among residents are facilitated to expand responsibilities for personal and community recovery.
  • 1.C.8.b. Written responsibilities, role descriptions, guidelines and/or feedback for residence leaders.
  • 1.C.8.c.  Evidence that residents’ recovery progress and challenges are recognized and strengths are celebrated.
