N/A

This rule applies to Level II, Level III and Level IV recovery residences

Guidance

To the greatest extent possible, recovery residences help individuals to recognize their process and challenges, as well as, celebrate their strengths. Self assessment activities can cultivate reflective skills and empower residents in their recovery. It is helpful for peers to engage in mutual aid around this objective. Staff can play a role as well. Most recovery residences use a combination of culture and programmatic activities to meet this rule. Examples could include person-centered recovery planning, “Recovery check-ins” during a community meeting or rituals that acknowledge progress or that support someone through a challenge.

Evaluation

  • Is there evidence that residents’ recovery progress and challenges are recognized and strengths are celebrated?
