This standard rule applies to all recovery residence levels of support.

Guidance

Given the rise of social media and the fact that many recovery residence providers overlook this communication platform with regards to privacy and confidentiality, NARR specifically highlights the need for a social media policies and procedures for staff. Many recovery residences are starting to develop rules for residents as well. NARR does not provide any guidance around what types of social media policies and procedures should be in place. Affiliates may establish guidelines and/or develop consensus amongst certified recovery residence providers.

Evaluation

  • Is there a policy and procedure, including social media, protecting resident and community privacy and confidentiality?
  • Are staff and leadership trained on the confidentiality policies and procedures?
