Guidance
This rule is specific to NARR standard 3.G.24 regarding the delivery of structured recovery support services and/or life skills development. As such, it is a delineating factor between lower (Is and IIs) and higher (IIIs and IVs) levels of support. In addition to being trained or credentialed to deliver the recovery support services reference in standard 3.G.24, staff must also receive supervision. Within this rule, NARR uses the phrase, “ongoing performance support and training” to describe what behavioral health clinicians refer to as “supervision”. While administrative oversight is important, “supervison” in this context refers to supporting staffs performance in a role or delivering a particular service with fidelity. This includes support around self-care and maintaining ethical boundries. Workforce skills development, role boundaries and fidelity to the service model are important across all recovery residences, but it is vital for level IIIs and IVs. Higher levels of support serve higher needs and more vulnerable populations.
Evaluation
Is there evidence that staff who provide recovery support services or life skills development referenced in NARR standard 3.G.24 receive ongoing performance support and training (supervision)?
