Basic Package

TROHN's Basic service package is for existing recovery housing organizations that are seeking recovery residence certification and are already familiar with the NARR standards and have already developed the various documents and process needed meet the NARR standard.

TROHN's Basic Service package includes:

• Password protected, online user account at TROHN.org
• Self-paced, self-guided application process that provides recovery housing organizations: 1) an orientation to the certification process and 2) the ability to submit documents and attestations as well as program and property profiles.
• Review and assessment of submitted documents measured against the NARR standard.
• Virtual interview and assessment of the recovery home's activities, culture and use of social model recovery.
• Determination of the Level of Support provided according to the NARR standard
• Onsite review of all properties measured against the NARR standard

You pay when you submit the application for review, meaning you can start the application for free. To get started, create a TROHN user account, log into your account and begin completing the application.

The 2022 cost of the Basic Service Package is $500 + $10 per bed.

TROHN expects applicants to get all of their recovery housing certified to avoid a provider using a "flagship" home that meets standards to attract residents and then diverting them to sub-standard homes.

At the same time, TROHN recognizes that a single organization may operate different housing models of which some may not be recovery housing.

Rule of thumb: If you market it as recovery housing then it should be certified as recovery housing.

Purchasing the Basic Package and/or submitting an application does NOT guarantee certification. You are paying for the review process.

That being said, this is a strength-based process, meaning TROHN will provide applicants feedback and in some cases, requirements need to meet NARR standards.

Based on that feedback or requirements, an applicant may choose to update their application to meet standards, withdraw from the certification process or submit a reasonable accommodation or variance.

The length of time it takes to complete the certification process largely depends on whether the applicant already has their documents developed for submission and the degree to which those documents meet NARR standards.

Other factors include how many applications TROHN is currently processing.

Currently, TROHN certifications expire in 24 months, meaning organizations must become re-certified very 2 years.

Re-certification costs the same as certification.
